UCLA Mathias Botanical Garden

A 7.5 acre public garden, outdoor classroom, and research facility on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, California.

You are probably wondering how Garden activities will be impacted by the current events at UCLA. We are heartbroken by some of the incidents that have taken place on our campus. UCLA is dedicated to freedom of expression and to providing a safe environment for the entire UCLA community. The situation changes day to day, and we will monitor it closely. However, the campus is open and so is the Garden. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all who come to the Garden.

The Herbarium

The UCLA Herbarium is a resource for the Los Angeles community that promotes the preservation and identification of plants.

Our collections consist of approximately 150,000 dried and pressed plant specimens with a focus on California and the Western United States, and an expanding interest in similar Mediterranean-climate regions of the world.
