The Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden offers free docent-led tours for groups of 8 or more, as part of its public education program. Visitors will come away with basic botanical concepts, interesting historical facts, and learn unusual characteristics of rare specimens in the Garden’s collection. Tours can be designed for specific ages, interests, restrictions, and the scientific knowledge of the visitors. For school groups, the garden provides free curriculum guides to enhance the experience of the tour.
School and community group tours must be arranged at least two weeks in advance. Tours are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays– anytime from 10:30 am to 2 pm. “The Nest” can be reserved to be used as an outdoor classroom, and there are tables in a shaded eating area that may also be reserved in advance. Tours are canceled in the event of rain. For logistical information about garden tours (directions, parking, meeting place, etc.) click here.
