This California wildflower is intriguing enough to headline a free festival
This May, the Clarkia Flower Festival was featured in the Los Angeles Times Plants Newsletter! Pedro Moura spoke with Director Victoria Sork about the decision to name the festival after Clarkia: “This is an opportunity to educate people about the diversity of wildflowers.”
In addition to highlighting an unsung California native wildflower, the festival served as an opportunity to connect the Los Angeles community with local organizations like the Los Angeles Public Library and the National Forest Foundation. Manager of Education and Outreach Chantal Ochoa-Clark noted the success of last year’s festival showed there is an appetite for free community events centered on nature.
