Sara Gorman is a bassist, educator, and multidisciplinary artist originally hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area. Recording and performing throughout California, her style is versatile, with music rooted in earnest emotion and expression, including jazz, indie, rock, soul, experimental, groove, and free. She has also worked with choreographers—composing music for dancers—and visual artists—collaborating and creating her own sound art installations and performances.
Gorman is graduating from UCLA in June with a bachelor’s degree in global jazz studies and minors in ethnomusicology and visual & performing arts education. Following graduation, she will pursue her MA in music therapy at NYU.
Gorman’s senior recital is a culmination of the music she has grown up listening to and composed over the past four years Featuring a fourteen-piece group in different configurations, her recital is an ode to the family she’s grown up with and found along the way.
