The Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden serves as an outdoor classroom and laboratory, as well as a healthy natural space within the urban sprawl of Los Angeles. UCLA and K-12 students come to explore nature and botany by engaging with our curated plant collections, while researchers use them for their studies. In addition to being an important campus resource for teaching and research, the Garden welcomes visitors to explore the global biodiversity of plants and to better understand society’s relationship with them. Educational public events inspire new understandings of plants and interest in caring for and conserving them. Volunteers can learn about horticultural techniques and how to share the natural history of plants through leading guided tours. An oasis in the city, the Garden provides a space where the community can come study, cultivate, and enjoy the wonders of the plant world.
When you renew or upgrade your membership, you support the only admission-fee botanical garden in Los Angeles. With your help, we can continue to provide and expand our unique educational opportunities for the community and protect our diverse collection of plants from around the world.
