SUMMARY:Music in the Garden: Garden Party\, Old Growth\, 287vinyl
DESCRIPTION:Kick back at a free public concert in the Garden! 287vinyl will kick off the music at 2pm\, followed by Old Growth and Garden Party. Meet at La Kretz Garden Pavilion (707 Tiverton Drive) on April 27\, 2024 from 2-4pm.\n\n\n\nFlyer (cover art) by @_mayas.arts\n\n287vinyl\nStarted by three friends and bandmates Steven Schlosberg\, Sara Gorman\, and Ben Kenvin\, 287vinyl was started out of the dorm room of Steven and Ben. An homage to disc jockeys of the 60s and 70s and preserved and inspired by chicano soul/lowrider oldies vinyl djs and greats of East LA\, the three share a love of the physical and meaning in the music they keep. All musicians themselves\, their combined collection influences the music they make and for certain albums\, the physicality of memories. With additions passed down from family members\, hidden gems found in the bottom boxes of record stores\, and borrowed from friends\, the collective shares a passion for the analog sound and making people dance. While the collection is always expanding\, current genres include downtempo souldies\, doo wopp\, R&B\, motown\, gospel\, blues\, retro soul\, neo soul\, deep funk\, jazz\, west coast hip hop\, rap\, ska\, rocksteady\, reggae\, afrobeat\, disco\, mambo\, salsa\, cumbia\, tropicalia\, samba\, bossa nova\, latin\, soft rock\, psychedelic surf rock\, Habibi funk\, Somalian disco\, Egyptian pop\, Ethiopian jazz\, Taiwanese rare groove\, world\, good tunes\, good tunes\, good tunes. \nOld Growth\nOld Growth is an LA based jazz and reggae band. Their debut EP; The Old Growth EP was released in November.  \n \nGarden Party\nFusing the genres of Jazz\, Motown\, Neo-Soul\, and Funk\, Garden Party is an LA-based band\, comprised of 7 members: Jude Fucetola (keys)\, Jacob Williams (guitar)\, Sara Gorman (bass)\, Ben Kenvin (drums)\, Gael Saldana (tenor sax)\, Steven Schlosberg (trombone)\, and Coco Mori (vocals)\, each from diverse musical backgrounds. Showcasing nostalgic rhythms\, moving chord changes\, and powerful horn lines\, Garden Party creates original compositions of love\, loneliness\, and so much more\, all through the soulful vocals of lead singer Coco Mori. Forming in their freshman year of college\, the musicians quickly became family. Performing in and around LA and San Francisco\, at notable venues such as Brick and Mortar and the Lodge Room\, the band is excited to share their passion with the world and the party of Garden Party!
