Pelliciera rhizophorae (Family Pellicieraceae) has one of the most limited distributions of mangroves, occurring only along the Pacific coastline from Costa Rica to Colombia and then appearing in the Galapagos Archipelago. The species is easily identified when shoots bear the large, star-shaped flowers.
