Dwarf mistletoe, Arceuthobium abietinum, on red fir Dwarf mistletoes belong to the genus Arceuthobium (Family Viscaceae). These species have scale-like leaves, and the vegetative plant is often bright yellow or golden, i.e., totally lacking chlorophyll. The dwarf mistletoes are particularly specialized on host species of conifers. This is Arceuthobium abietinum growing from stems of California red fir, Abies magnifica.
