Basal leaves of a bromeliad are rose-pink Bromeliads (Family Bromeliaceae) have many interesting leaf colors. In this form, the bottom half of each leaf within the rosette has abundant anthocyanin, making the center of this plant rose-pink. The tank fills with rain water, and from this pool leaves take up water through the epidermis. Certain animals, including insects and anurans, can raise offspring in the pool, if the water persists long enough.
