The vibrantly colored velveteen of stems, leaf axes, stipules, tendrils, and young leaflets in Tetrastigma voinierianum, chestnut vine or lizard plant (Family Vitaceae), is caused by a soft, dense coat of trichomes that are red-orange above and whitish underneath.
