In a flowing slough of the Owens Valley, California, can be found robust populations of submerged aquatic plants rooted in the shallow bottom. These appear to be hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum, Family Ceratophyllaceae) and a species of Potamogeton (Family Potamogetonaceae, probably P. pectinatus). The flexible underwater shoots are constantly undulating in the moving water.
