Yerba mansa, Anemopsis californica, growing in a wet meadow in Owens Valley, California Yerba mansa, Anemopsis californica (Family Saururaceae), is a broad-leaved aquatic plant of the southwestern United States and adjacent Mexico, occurring in wet meadows and even desert springs. The plant spreads via stolons from the mother plant. This species is especially common here in Owens Valley, eastern California, along the base of the Sierra Nevada. Leaf blades are erect in these dense, monospecific populations. This perennial species clones via white and rose-colored stolons.
