STEM EMERGENCE
Stem emergence: a sharp projection is from stem axes, often associated with climbing or scambling habit.
Examples:
- Grasping, backward-pointing stem emergences of a rose, Rosa; another rose
- Stem and leaf emergences on the beach rose, Rosa rugosa
- The tropical legume Caesalpinia bonduc
- Backward-pointing stem emergences of Lantana camara
- Abundant stem emergences on a gooseberry of the Santa Monica Mountains, Ribes speciosum
- Sharp emergences along the winged stem of the climber Dioscorea bulbifera from Costa Rica
- Stem emergences on a tropical species of greenbriar, Smilax mollis
- Species of raspberry and blackberry, Rubus
- Stem and leaf emergences on the prickly lettuce, Lactuca serriola
- Serjania mexicana with prickles on stems and tendrils
- Stems adorned with vicious long spines on the Nibung palm, Oncosperma tigillarum
