FOUQUIERIACEOUS SPINE

Fouquieraceous spine (Fouquieria): a spine forms by the fusion (adnation) of stem tissue to the abaxial surface of the petiole, with the tip being the abaxial surface of the midvein.

  1. Petiole abscising during the formation of a new spine; another species
  2. Leafy older stem
  3. Closer view of leafy stem of an arborescent species of Fouquieria
  4. Fouquieria fasciulata
