FOUQUIERIACEOUS SPINE
Fouquieraceous spine (Fouquieria): a spine forms by the fusion (adnation) of stem tissue to the abaxial surface of the petiole, with the tip being the abaxial surface of the midvein.
Examples:
- Petiole abscising during the formation of a new spine; another species
- Leafy older stem
- Closer view of leafy stem of an arborescent species of Fouquieria
- Fouquieria fasciulata
