Newsletter Main Menu
In 1998, the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden began publication of a newsletter, the first one since its opening on the Westwood campus in 1930. The goals of the MEMBG Newsletter are:
- to inform readers about improvements of our campus facility,
- to review past and announce upcoming educational activities,
- to investigate the history of the garden and chronicle events that will become its history,
- to salute accomplishments of our staff and volunteers and thank our contributors,
- to provide botanical information about the plants growing in the garden and on the UCLA campus.
Having the articles online not only will be useful to our members, who may wish to develop a notebook of articles, but also encourage others to visit our collection in person.
The Botanical Garden is reaching out to the community and hoping that the community will respond with its wholehearted moral and generous financial support for what we are attempting to create in Westwood: a gathering place where learning about plants and nature is the key mission. This is a facility for people of all ages. We are hoping that you read the Newsletter, take an interest in plants, visit our living museum as well as our educational Website, and from them find a way to become involved in our programs.
