The Southern California Horticultural Society has presented MEMBG with a gift of $3000 to provide a student internship in horticulture. This fund will be used to sponsor a UCLA undergraduate during the summertime. Last summer a private donor gave a grant that supported three interns. That summer program exceeded all expectations for MEMBG as well as the three lucky students, who worked parttime while attending academic classes of the UCLA Summer Session. We are, of course, looking for other donors or agencies as sources for other $3000 gifts, so that we can offer learning opportunities to more students. Maybe we can make this a regular internship each year.
