Just in time for the fall academic quarter, reconstruction was completed to open South Tiverton for two-way traffic. For a quarter century, vehicular access into the botanical garden was available only along South Tiverton from the north. Now buses have more options for delivering and retrieving tour groups at the main west gate of MEMBG, and our volunteers and deliveries can reach the garden office more directly, via Le Conte in Westwood Village, thereby avoiding a commute through campus traffic.
Planning for this project took several years due to concerns about minimizing disturbance to garden plantings and accommodating our needs. Thanks to the campus planners for including us in the process!
