Our visitors sometimes inquire about the flautist they hear playing classical music during afternoons in the garden. His name is Jurjeu Valentin. Now a Westwood resident, he came to California from Romania in August 1996, after winning the American lottery to immigrate. He works the graveyard shift on his regular job, which allows him spare time to practice his flute for hours every day. Jurjeu tells us that playing the flute is just a hobby--but, clearly, it's his passion, too.
